SHANGHAI UNIQUE CONSTRUCTIONS - WARSHIP - HEAD - SHAPED HOUSE

Possibly the world's thinnest building. It appears nothing more than a brick wall, extending down the road.It is located at No.400 Ningbo Road, Huangpu District.Add paragraph text here.

The house is part of a triangular shaped block, and at its point becomes so thin that residents cannot fit a chair in front of their windows. Some have solved the problem by extending their windows into covered balconies in order to fit their lives into their home .

The region in which the house is located retains a large number of old rectangular residences. However, this house stands out among the neighboring buildings. It curves inward alongside the east interface, resulting in a meandering and narrow alley on the east.

Its external shape seems very much like the head of a warship when viewing westwards from Ningbo Road, and this explains why it is nicknamed a 'Warship – head-shaped House'.
It is the sharp acute angle created by intersecting of two roads that makes the sharp external shape of this house. The layout of the macro urban environment determines the micro shape of a building. Such roads are maybe due to the subdivision of blocks, or a certain factor in the original topography.

Several bloggers have pointed out the building’s resemblance to the famous Flatiron building on New York’s Manhattan.
